Method Man surrendered to the Staten Island D.A. yesterday (Oct. 5) for failing to pay $32,799 in income tax.
The Staten Island native, real name Clifford Smith, arrived at the Staten Island DA’s office at about 8 a.m., he’s accused of failing to keep up with tax payments dating back to 2004, according to District Attorney Daniel Donovan, whose office teamed up with the state Department of Taxation to bring charges against the 38-year-old rapper. “Failure to properly report and pay your taxes is a crime against all citizens and will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted,” said Donovan.
Method Man was released on bail later in the day.
