Lizzo has been on a tear. She’s been on her grind for a while, but you would think she came out of nowhere. Her “Truth Hurts” is currently on a 4-week run at #1 on the Hot 100 charts. “Truth Hurts” dropped like two years ago, but didn’t get too much burn outside her core fan base. The track was added to her major label debut album, Cuz I Love You, through Atlantic Records. Lizzo dropped two full length albums before signing up with Atlantic. Reacting to her success, Lizzo posted on Twitter, “I fell in love with music when I was 9 years old… I had no idea our love affair would go this far.”
Truth Hurts is officially the longest solo female rap #1 in history. I fell in love with music when I was 9 years old… I had no idea our love affair would go this far. Good to know it was all worth it. Don’t run away from what your heart wants. Follow that bitch to ur destiny pic.twitter.com/dZsHaFJd9F

Her 4 weeks at #1 is a record for a song by a solo female rapper. Her other hit, “Tempo” is a collaboration with Missy Elliot. And she just sold out her show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, “Because I know you love me … we sold this bitch out twice! I feel like people don’t get to experience this … It’s such a milestone when an artist can sell out Radio City.” We tried to tell you. Lizzo’s the hidden gem that’s been hiding in plain sight.
And fyi, this isn’t her first time playing RCMH. Keep up!
