A New York judge blasted rapper Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey
Atkins, for missing a court date last month.
Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer was miffed when Mr. Atkins failed to appear before her regarding a hearing on his 2007 weapons possession charge.
Mr. Atkins’ attorney Stacey Richman placed blame for the missed court date on the organizers of his German tour, arguing the dates had been booked by mistake.
Justice Scherer ultimately took pity on Mr. Atkins, excusing the absence and placing a mandatory five-day notice for all business trips that would take him out of the New York City area.
The 32-year old rapper was arrested in July of 2007 along with his driver, Mohamed Gamal, and road manager, Dennis Cherry, after cops found a loaded semi-automatic in their vehicle.
