From Westley Snipes to Ronald Isley, it seems like paying taxes is something that a lot of celebrities seem to be having a problem with these days. The Associated Press is reporting that rapper Fat Joe will be the next celebrity to go to jail for tax evasion.
Joe, born Joseph Antonio Cartagena, was sentenced on Monday (June 24) to four months in prison for failing to file income taxes. Although Joe revealed to MTV News back in May that he was paying back the money he owed, he was still not able to escape jail time. According to MTV News, the government is claiming that Joe failed to pay taxes on $3 million in income that he earned from 2007 to 2010. Although Joe is taking full responsibility for his actions, he told Sway from MTV that there are other people that also need to take some of the blame. “You gotta understand we hire guys with Harvard degrees to to take care of us,” Joe explained to Sway back in May.
