Ex-nanny files lawsuit claiming Mariah Carey stiffed her out of money owed

Mariah Carey‘s ex-nanny is suing her for unpaid wages. Maria Burgues claims she worked for Carey from late 2017 to early 2018 without getting paid her fair share. A rep for Mariah told TMZ, “This is a legally and factually baseless claim that will be defended with vigor.”

Burgues alleges that she flew all over the world caring for the kids the signer shares with Nick Cannon, but that Carey didn’t keep track of the hours she worked. Burgues says she was to be paid $25/hour, but doesn’t specify her work hours, stating she often worked round-the-clock, sometimes doing non-nanny duties. The ex-nanny also said that she was denied required breaks under California law to include meals and rest.

Ms. Burgues says that the bodyguard she reported to was a “scumbag” and publicly treated her like dirt. She claims that he almost got her involved in a traffic accident because of cell phone use and threatened to kick her out of the car on a road trip to Vegas. Burgues says that she was fired shortly after complaining.
