Dame Dash is at the center of another legal fight, and may suffer criminal repercussions as a result.
Celebrity photographer Monique Bunn is suing the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder for sexual battery, alleging that he groped her following a photo shoot for his fashion company, Poppington, at the home he shares with his wife, Racquel Horn. Bunn is seeking $50 million.
According to Bunn, she was asleep in a bedroom after the photo shoot. She alleges that she woke up to Dash touching and grouping her breast and buttocks without her permission or consent. “Dash was wearing a robe and had no underwear on.” And, “had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana all day,” the lawsuit alleges. Bunn claims that she was able to get his hands off of her and that she threatened to fight him if he didn’t leave the room. She says that she stayed in the bedroom for the rest of the night but “did not sleep that evening.”
The suit also alleges that Dash later lied about a TV deal with WEtv, to produce and air a docuseries about Bunn’s life. Bunn states she believes Dash fabricated the deal as a way to “keep Bunn silent” about the sexual battery allegation.
At this time, there isn’t any indication that Bunn pursued criminal charges against Dash.
Racquel Horn, Damon Dash Studios and Poppington LLC are also named in the suit. Bunn is claiming negligent emotional distress and theft by conversion, for celebrity photos that have not been returned to her by the couple since the photo shoot.
Dame has faced a number of legal charges this year. He was recently tied up in family court, and arrested, for back child support owed to his ex-wife and ex-girlfriend. The three reached a settlement in early December. He got a win this year, as he received a settlement from Lee Daniels for a $2 million loan he gave the Empire director. Part of that settlement went towards his child support bill.
