Ricardo Montalban, who portrayed Mr. Roarke in the late ‘70s T.V. show “Fantasy Island,” died at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning (Jan. 14).
L.A. city council president Eric Garcetti announced Montalban death.
Garcetti eulogized Montalban in a written statement, “The Ricardo Montalban Theatre in my Council District — where the next generations of performers participate in plays, musicals, and concerts — stands as a fitting tribute to this consummate performer.”
Montalban starred in a series of successful films included “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan,” where he played the villain, “The Naked Gun” and “Spy Kids,” among others. But his most famous role was that of the mysterious Mr. Roarke who, along with sidekick Tattoo, played host to visitors of a tropical island resort, Fantasy Island, where guests could live out their fantasies.
Montalban’s cause of death was not disclosed. He was 88 years old.
