As it turns out, a drunk driving Shia LaBeouf was not the cause of the early Sunday morning car accident according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “We have strong evidence that the other driver ran a red light,” said Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Mr. LaBeouf was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of diving under the influence after the mash-up that left his ford truck up-ended. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai medical center along with his passenger “Transformers 2” co-star Isabel Lucas.
Access Hollywood got an exclusive recount of the accident from Brian Perrulli, a passer-by who overheard an exchange between the “Disturbia” actor and the driver of the other vehicle after the accident.
“The guy Shia hit told him, ‘You should get outta here,’ and ‘I never saw you.’ He said, ‘I never saw you,'”
“Shia said, ‘No, man, I gotta stay here and deal with this. It’s my problem.”
The accident forced Mr. LaBeouf to miss the start of filming of “Transformers 2” because of “extensive surgery.”
