It’s being reported that Avery Brooks, who’s been referred to as the Barack Obama of the Star Trek universe*, was arrested in Connecticut last Sunday (Jan. 29) for driving under the influence.
Brooks, 63, was pulled over by police shortly after 10 p.m. in Wilton, CT, a wealthy suburb about 50 miles northeast of Manhattan. He is expected to be arraigned in state court in Norwalk, CT next week.
Trekkies will know Brooks from his portrayal of Capt. Benjamin Sisko in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” (1993–1999). But older readers may have fonder memories of Brooks from the mid-80s TV series “Spenser: For Hire” where he played Hawk.
*No one has ever referred to Avery Brooks as the Barack Obama of the Star Trek universe.
