Actor Tristan Wilds, who’s best know for portraying Michael Lee on the critically acclaimed HBO series “The Wire,” will sport a military uniform for his next role. The 20-year-old star of the CW’s “Beverly Hills 90210” has been cast in the Anthony Hemingway-directed World War II film “Red Tails” about an elite all-black unit of escort pilots.
In “Red Tails,” which is based on the true story of the 332nd Fighter Group, Wilds will play airman Ray “Ray Gun” Knight, who after nearly being blinded over Nazi-occupied Italy becomes the wingman for his friend Marty.
This marks a return to the silver screen for Wilds who appeared alongside Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifah in 2008’s “The Secret Life of Bees.”
