But he took his bashing to another level when he criticized Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s depression.
In an interview with journalist Graham Bensinger, Prescott revealed he has been struggling with depression since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown, and tearfully discussed his brother Jace’s death by suicide this past April following the death of his mother from colon cancer.
On his show Undisputed show, Bayless addressed Presscott’s admission: “I don’t have sympathy for him going public with, ‘I got depressed’ and ‘I suffered depression early in Covid to the point that I couldn’t even go work out.’ Look, he’s the quarterback of America’s team.”
Despite Bayless, Prescott explained to reporters why he felt compelled to share his mental state publicly, “I think being a leader is about being genuine and being real… I think it’s important to be vulnerable, to be genuine, to be transparent,” Prescott said. “I think that goes a long way when you’re a leader and when your voice is being heard by so many, and you can inspire.”
