A New York judge handed down a one-day community service sentence to Joseph “JoJo” Simmons Jr. after he agreed to plead guilty to disorderly conduct in a case that originally had him facing resisting arrest, drug possession, reckless endangerment and criminal use of drug paraphernalia charges.
Simmons’, the 19-year-old son of Run DMC rapper, Joseph ‘Rev. Run’ Simmons, charges stemmed from an arrest on May 8 after cops witnessed him purchase marijuana from a dealer on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. When they approached him as he sat in his BMW to make the arrest, cops say Simmons tried to flee the scene, nearly hitting a squad car in the process.
The charges were reduced to disorderly conduct in accordance with a deal Simmons reached with prosecutors where he agreed to serve 1 day of community service.
