His mom, Marcelene Simmons, hired civil rights attorney Ben Crump to look into her son’s complaints. Mr. Crump, Simmons, and fellow attorneys Devon Jacob and Sue-Ann Robinson, found out Kodak was transferred out of a low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Miami only after arriving at the prison for a welfare check. The rapper was moved to a facility in Kentucky.
Jacob stated he’s had difficulty meeting with his client even prior to the transfer. The family and attorneys believe that this is being done intentionally so that he is unable to meet with his attorneys, which is a violation of his rights.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, Crump, asked whether the last minute transfer was a ploy to keep Kodak from speaking to his attorneys, “Right before I was going to meet with him, he was put on a bus to Kentucky. Was he intentionally moved so he couldn’t meet with his attorney?”
Along with @notjustalawyer and @DevonMJacob I will be representing Kodak to make sure he is being treated fairly.

Simmons believes her son is in real danger, saying she will “kill herself” if anything happens to him. “I want to make sure my son is OK.. I want to make sure they don’t kill my son.”
Kodak has claimed prison guard and inmates are out to harm him. After a fight with another inmate Kodak said he was pepper sprayed and “beaten so brutally that I had to be taken to the Box in a wheelchair.”
Black was sentenced last November to 46 months in prison after pleading guilt to lying about his criminal record when he purchased firearms on multiple occasions. He’s expected to b freed in August 2022.
